Cyclists of all ages can earn free rewards during this event, which runs July 1 to August 31. Ride five trails to earn your reward.

About The Biking Spree

First-year riders earn a license plate and reflective sticker. Veteran participants earn a reflective sticker. Rides are FREE for all participants. Out-of-county residents pay to receive their rewards ($10 for first year riders, $5 for veteran riders).

To Participate
  1. Sign up below
  2. Download your participant form
  3. Complete five trail sections between July 1 and August 31 to receive rewards
  4. Update your form as you ride your chosen trails
  5. When you've completed a minimum of five rides, drop off the form to receive your rewards (See form for locations)

All 34 miles of the Bike & Hike trail are paved. Some portions of the trail use neighborhood streets. Please follow the green biking signs until you rejoin the established trail. For your convenience, restrooms are located at the Brandywine Falls, SR 303, Springdale, Silver Springs and SR 91 lots.

The "Fixit" repair stations feature tools to fix a flat tire, adjust brakes and more. Smartphone users can learn more about how to fix bike problems by scanning a QR code on the station, which will redirect to an instructional bike repair website. The QR code will also allow riders to find the location of other bike repair stations.

One of our newest trails, the surface of the Freedom Trail is asphalt and the grade is flat. There is one bench at the Middlebury trailhead near the kiosk, but no restrooms.

Most of the Towpath Trail surface is crushed limestone with moderate changes in grade. Accessible restrooms are available at the Big Bend, Memorial Parkway, Vanderhoof Road, and Clinton trailheads.

Any Bike & Hike or Towpath Trail

Ride another section of the Bike & Hike or Towpath trails to earn credit. Only one Biker's Choice trail ride will count.

Get Rewarded

Ride five or more trails to receive a license plate and reflective sticker. (Veteran riders earn a reflective sticker.)


Each year you participate, you'll receive a new sticker to add to your license plate.

Trail Etiquette

Safety Tips

Here are some tips to help you be safe and courteous on multipurpose trails:

  • Don't use more than half of the trail
  • Keep to the right in a single file line
  • Pass on the left and give an audible signal while passing
  • Always keep your dog on a leash and bag waste
  • Slow down and watch for pedestrians
